Everything the caddie carries
Five things, done properly — the club, the yardage, the map, the card, and the group.
A club recommendation you can trust
Birdo computes the plays-like distance and ranks the candidate clubs from your own carry numbers first — deterministic, tested, reliable. When your iPhone supports Apple Intelligence, the on-device model then chooses among those candidates and explains the call in a sentence.
The model never invents a yardage; it only selects from what the engine already trusts. So the recommendation is sound on every device, and degrades gracefully to the deterministic pick when on-device AI isn't available.
Front, center, back — and the pin
Core Location places you on the hole and Birdo shows the distance to the front, center, and back of the green, plus the flag when the course is mapped to the pin. The numbers update with every step you take.
It's all geodesy under the hood — great-circle distances in yards, computed on the device — so there's nothing to wait for and no signal required.
Courses mapped by the community
Birdo's course geometry comes from OpenStreetMap's well-defined golf schema — greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and water — read through the Overpass API and normalized into clean course models. It's free, open data that improves every season.
Because purpose-built editors write back to the same map, coverage grows on its own — and Birdo benefits automatically, with a commercial-data seam kept ready for courses the open map hasn't reached.
Gross, net, and Stableford
Enter strokes hole by hole and Birdo keeps every format in step — handicap strokes allocated by stroke index, net scores, and Stableford points totted as you play. The hole advances by GPS proximity as you reach the next tee.
Round history lives on the device, so you can look back over a season of cards without an account or a cloud login.
Play the fourball together
Share a round and your group follows one card, live. Invite by share sheet, and each player's holes sync through your own iCloud — a private, push-driven leaderboard for the people you invited and no one else.
It's the friendly match, kept honest, without handing your scores to a third party.
The whole bag, on your phone.
Birdo is coming to iPhone — iOS 26.
